Find out how to do
Following the tracks of past gravel events, we propose two routes of about 60 km starting from and returning to PuntAla Camp & Resort.
Day 1 – “GRINDURITO” – retraces the short loop of the Grinduro 2023 event organized by our ASD Punta Ala Trail Center. A medium loop, about 60 km with 700 m total elevation, on mixed terrain (asphalt and dirt), starting from PuntAla Camp & Resort towards countryside and hills. We cross the Maremma countryside painted by yellow sunflowers and pink fruit blossoms, with the scent of Mediterranean scrub, reaching villages, hamlets and old mines. There will be indulgent gourmet stops with food‑and‑wine tastings in unique panoramic settings. The way back is colored by the blue of the sea, admired while riding along the scenic Via delle Costiere. The tour ends with a well‑deserved swim and a sunset aperitif with your feet in the sand at the Chiosco Beach Bar of PuntAla Camp & Resort.
Day 2 – “UNPAVED” – explores the route of another Gravel event hosted at PuntAla Camp & Resort over three past editions that drew a huge turnout: Unpaved Roads Punta Ala, short loop. Again we will ride for about 60 km with roughly 650 m of total elevation. Although the first stretch is identical to the previous day, after about 15 km a junction leads to a completely different route. We head towards Castiglione della Pescaia, crossing the inland around Vetulonia, vast vineyards and olive groves, and remains of ancient Etruscan and Roman civilizations, until the first stop: a well‑earned snack‑lunch with winery visit at one of the most renowned estates in the Maremma. From here we continue towards the Diaccia Botrona marshland, nesting site for many waterbirds, including herons and flamingos. At Casa Ximenes we begin to cross Castiglione della Pescaia. Time for a selfie and a gelato by the sea, then our tour heads back: we pass Pian di Rocca and Val di Nappo, tackle one last climb and enjoy a long descent back to the starting point. Here, one last swim, an aperitif at the Chiosco Beach Bar and… see you on the next adventure!
