On May 20, PuntAla Camp & Resort officially reopens for the season and will once again welcome guests until October 3, in the heart of one of the most beautiful corners of the Tuscan Maremma.
Nestled in a fragrant centuries-old maritime pine forest and overlooking the sea, with direct access to a private beach along a stretch of coastline facing Elba Island and the Tuscan Archipelago, the resort is the perfect starting point for anyone looking for an outdoor holiday that combines relaxation, nature and movement. Here, everyone can choose their own pace: slow down, spend time on the beach, head out on an excursion, try a new sport or mix different experiences in the same day. That is the true soul of the resort: a real Outdoor Arena, designed for families, couples, groups of friends and outdoor lovers looking for an active holiday without giving up the pleasure of the sea and the comfort of a 4-star resort with everything close at hand.
One of the strongest parts of the resort’s outdoor offer is of course the Punta Ala Trail Center, the in-resort bike shop and hub for anyone who wants to explore the area on two wheels. Punta Ala and the Maremma offer a highly varied riding network: singletracks through Mediterranean scrub, coastal trails, white roads, gravel loops and easier itineraries winding through the soft Tuscan hills.
With the trails recently cleared and refreshed in the Monte di Muro and Monte Alma areas, guided e-bike tours are the ideal starting point for discovering the best of the area from the saddle. Led by local guides who know the trails, the viewpoints and the right places to stop, these rides are built around the group’s level and the kind of experience they are looking for.
It is not just about pedalling, but about letting yourself be guided through a day that brings together fun, scenery and the pleasure of stopping in all the right places. It is one of the most complete ways to get to know the Maremma by bike.
For those who prefer to ride independently, there are also recommended routes on Komoot, with options suited to all levels and different riding styles, from e-bike to gravel.
Guests can also make use of bike rental with MTB, e-bike and gravel models, a specialized workshop, technical assistance, a shuttle service for those who want to focus more on descents and, of course, the pump track inside the resort.
The Tyrrhenian Cycle Route on the Punta Ala–Follonica section is also nearing completion and will open up even more opportunities to get around and ride through the surrounding area.
After the success of last year, one of the most appreciated experiences of the previous season is back by popular demand: the Friday evening trek to Cala Violina. Starting from the Punta Ala Trail Center, this guided excursion leads to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Maremma.
The walk follows the Sentiero Le Api trail through the shade of the Mediterranean scrub, all the way to the iconic white beach that seems to “sing” like a violin underfoot. Once there, anyone who wishes can enjoy a swim in the clear waters of Cala Violina, soaking up a more intimate and peaceful atmosphere.
After the swim, the return becomes one of the most memorable moments of the experience: sunset lights up the walk back with spectacular views over Cala Civette, the resort and the entire Gulf of Follonica.
For anyone who enjoys the sea in an active yet relaxed way, SUP is one of the best experiences to enjoy during a stay at the resort. Centro Velico Punta Ala offers rental, introductory lessons and guided excursions, especially the tours to Cala Violina, among the most rewarding outings you can enjoy paddling along the coastline.
It is the perfect way to see Punta Ala from a different perspective, directly from the water, surrounded by coves, natural scenery and wide-open views over the Gulf of Follonica. It is an accessible and enjoyable activity, ideal both for those who prefer to head out with a guide and for those who would rather paddle independently by renting a SUP and enjoying the sea at their own rhythm.
And if, after trying it during your holiday, you feel curious to see the sport at a higher level, the next major sporting event of the season will be the Sparviero SUP Challenge Memorial Sara D’Apolito, taking place on June 6–7 as a stage of the Italian SUP Race and Paddleboard Championship. A chance to watch some of the best Italian athletes in action and soak up the atmosphere of an event that once again highlights the sporting spirit of PuntAla Camp & Resort, increasingly present on the national and international outdoor sports scene.
If SUP is the most relaxed way to be on the water, sailing and windsurfing invite you to connect with the wind as well. At Centro Velico Punta Ala, that can happen in many different ways, with a sailing school, windsurfing courses, private and group lessons, courses and rental services.
Catamarans, Laser Bahia, windsurf boards and other craft allow everyone to find the experience that suits them best, whether they are just starting out, looking to improve or simply eager to spend a few enjoyable hours on the water.
Those who want guidance can rely on the instructors, while anyone looking for more freedom can choose rental and head out independently, in a stretch of sea that is especially well suited to these disciplines thanks to the mild climate, steady thermal winds and the natural shelter of the Gulf of Follonica.
An active holiday in Punta Ala goes far beyond biking and sailing. The resort also offers an equipped beach, the Beach Bar, the Sport Beach Arena and a calendar of social events that keep the pleasure of the day going well into the evening.
The Sport Beach Arena is the right place for anyone who enjoys staying active on the beach, with beach volleyball and other sand-based activities, while the Beach Bar is perfect for a break, an aperitivo or a relaxed end of the day with sea views. Evening events and social moments are just as much part of the resort’s outdoor spirit as sport itself: an easy, natural way to spend time together after a full day.
Rounding out the resort’s sports offer are the red clay tennis courts, just a short walk from the beach and available both for independent play and lessons on request, and the CrossFit Punta Ala box, an integral part of the resort’s multi-sport offer.
These activities fit perfectly into the resort’s philosophy: giving every guest the chance to shape their own active holiday, combining different disciplines in a truly special natural setting.
PuntAla Camp & Resort reopens on May 20 with an offer that brings together sea, pine forest, sport, services and freedom of choice. Some will come to relax, some to spend as much time as possible on the water, some to ride every day, and others to alternate activities and beach time with the family.
That is exactly Punta Ala’s strength: offering a complete holiday where everything is close by and every day can take a different shape, depending on the weather, your energy and the simple desire to feel good.
