Castiglione della Pescaia, however, is all above sea, an extraordinary sea that bathes against bewitching coastlines safeguarded by a relaxed and surprising forest. Among these patches of paradise, one of the most expressive is certainly Cala Violina – a small cove nestled between the clear waters of the sea, and opulent Mediterranean scrub.

Cala Violina

Tuscany is a land of background, society, and beautiful landscapes. Along with one of the most popular cities of art, elegance accompanies us wherever we go: small, captivating towns that are set just as well as capitals, cypress trees that line the streets and also act as counterpoints to the ecological hills, and then the sea that breaks on the rocks or laps the reduced coastline with its tones of blue, azure, and blue-green.

Tuscany and its tourist attractions: an area to discover

An area of the Tuscan Maremma where you can absolutely invest a pleasant and positive trip is Castiglione della Pescaia, in the province of Grosseto, which has been transformed from a common fishing town into one of the most reliable resorts, capable of satisfying all needs, while not distorting its initial appearance: in the waters of the port-canal, in fact, the jet skis of visitors and fishermen placidly wriggle side by side. Research asserts that this city, controlled by the 14th-15th century Aragonese citadel, arose from an ancient Etruscan trade. Those with historical passions can probably travel to the surrounding area to visit other essential Etruscan sites, while those who intend to engage in nature can take long walks, bike rides, and even horseback riding in the nature folds located near the community.

A place in the Tuscan Maremma where you can certainly invest a satisfying and positive holiday is Castiglione della Pescaia, in the province of Grosseto, which from a common fishing village has been transformed into a first-rate tourist facility, capable of satisfying all needs, while not distorting its initial appearance: in the waters of the port-canal, in fact, the jet skis of vacationers and fishermen move placidly one after the other. Castiglione della Pescaia, however, is above all sea, a remarkable sea that bathes against captivating coasts ensured by a relaxing and longing forest. Among these strips of paradise, one of the most expressive is undoubtedly Cala Violina – a small cove nestled between the clear waters of the sea and the opulent Mediterranean scrub.

A captivating route in the Tuscan Maremma

Cala Violina, located in the Nature Reserve of Bandite di Scarlino, is at 16 kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia, and can be reached in about 25 minutes: drive along the state road to Follonica until you see the sign for the place; leave your car in the parking lot, and drive the last stretch, immersed in the beautiful Mediterranean scrub. Cala Violina is among the most fascinating locations in the Tyrrhenian Sea, so much so that in 2004 and 2005 it was included by Legambiente among the 11 most beautiful coastlines in Italy.

Investing a vacation time in these locations, appreciating any use of them, is an experience not to be missed for those who intend to relax, and at the same time understand unspoiled and still intact atmospheres.

The coast that "plays" an old tune

Cala Violina gets its name from a feature that makes it special: small quartz grains that play a melody with every step. Sounding coasts are an old tradition, in ancient times told about even by Marco Polo. There are only about a hundred such locations on the planet, and Cala Violina is one of them.

Cala Violina, in the Mediterranean maquis of the Scarlino natural area, is a strip of coastline that meets a pristine sea, confined between two headlands. Cala Violina can be reached on foot, or by bicycle.
